The hotel closes the doors at 11:00pm so please inform us if you will be arriving later so we can make arrangements for you to check in.

Camper Beds are available at an extra £20 bed and breakfast.

Dogs are welcome at a cost of £15 per night.

We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy.

All bedroom rates include a full English breakfast.


All bedrooms have LCD televisions with Freeview TV, modern bathrooms, hair dryers and tea/coffee making facilities.

King Charles Suite

Price per room: £150 Bed & Breakfast

The King Charles Suite is where Charles I spent his last night of freedom before surrendering to the Scottish Commissioners. In this historic Suite you can also find the Elizabethan Wall Painting that while dating back to 1590, was only discovered in 1986 after a planned refurbishment of the hotel. Today, full conservation work has ensured that the remarkable condition of the painting is maintained for generations to come.

A spacious Suite with considerable charm, a luxurious bathroom and a glamorous Four-Poster Bed, this room is also referred to as the Honeymoon Suite.

Champagne, chocolates and flowers can be awaiting your arrival upon request.


The Wolsey Room  & The Byron Suite in the Historic Wing

Price per room: £130 Bed & Breakfast (£140 every Friday & Saturday)

The historic Old Wing of the hotel contains glamorous Four Poster Bedrooms that each have luxury bathrooms and views out over Southwell town.

The Oak Panelled Wolsey Room is where the Cardinal stayed on his way down to London after being summoned by King Henry VIII. Knowing he was about to get his head chopped off, he claimed ill health and spent 3 weeks at the Saracen’s Head before travelling down to meet his fate.

The Byron Suite is where the Poet and his mother lived for a week before moving into  Burgage Manor, a beautiful home in the local town of Southwell.


Four Poster Family Room

Price per room: £130 Bed & Breakfast (£140 every Friday & Saturday)

The Four Poster Family Room is extremely spacious with natural light pouring in through two large windows that overlook Southwell town. This room can be used by a couple or two camper style beds can easily be added to make it suitable for a family of four.


Standard Double Room & Twin Rooms

Price per room: £100 Bed & Breakfast (£115 every Friday & Saturday)

Located in the new wing of the hotel, these rooms are spacious with modern bathrooms and plenty of natural light.


Standard Single Room

Price per room: £90 Bed & Breakfast (£105 every Friday & Saturday)

Small but with all the amenities required to make your stay comfortable, the single bedrooms are the ideal for the lone traveller.
